ABC’s of Prayer

abcprayerlogoWe all sometimes struggle to pray or at least we don’t feel very confident about praying, although we may know we need to pray. So this simple approach of using the ABC’s of prayer can help transform your prayer life as you ask, believe, and claim God’s promises from Scripture.

Ask your Heavenly Father in faith, for your need.

  • Matthew 7:7 – “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

  • James 4:2-3 – “You desire and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and don’t receive because you ask wrongly, so that you may spend it on your desires for pleasure.” (HCSB)

  • Hebrews 4:16 – “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Believe in God to answer you.

  • Mark 11:24 – “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”

  • Matthew 7:11 – “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”

  • John 14:13-14 – “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”

Claim the promises of God, giving Him thanks and praise.

  • John 11:41 – “Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.”

  • 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 - “Thine, O LORD is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.”

  • Psalms 16:1-2 – I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.”

  • Hebrews 10:23 – “Let us hold on to the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.” (HCSB)
