My name is Steve Durkac, a confessed sinner saved by grace, and grateful to have the privilege to lead out in our Sunday Bible study and to be available to our community for pastoral care services.
I am an ordained Evangelical minister who grew-up Catholic, but has spent 30 years of my adult life in church ministry, including serving as a pastor with Seventh-day Adventist churches, serving both a Catholic and a Baptist hospital as a chaplain, and since 2000 I have been affiliated with Southern Baptist churches and Associations.
You can read about my personal conversion story of how I met Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, bringing me a new purpose, identity, and a God-given plan for my life! - “Teenage Wasteland.”
I have previously served as an evangelist in Ohio, Tennessee, North Carolina, and as a pastor in South Carolina, in northeast Alabama, and more recently as a hospital chaplain with Baptist Hospital in Pensacola and Providence Hospital in Mobile. I hold degrees in religion and pastoral ministry from Southern Adventist University and post-graduate Clinical Pastoral Education with University Hospital and Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.
I have served as a Prayer Ministries coordinator with the Gulf States Conference of SDA, as the Biblical Prayer Ministries Coordinator with the Mobile Baptist Association, and am the author of “How to Pray: A Pocket Guide to the Four Principles of Prayer Taught by Jesus.”
While my ministry started in my home state of Ohio, it has brought me further and further south, until 2000 which is when I moved to Mobile, Alabama.
I live in west Mobile, Alabama with my beautiful wife Stephanie, two of my four children at home, two close by in Mobile, our family pet Keef, and have two grandchildren.
In addition to my pastoral care ministries with West Mobile Bible Fellowship, I have an active ministry with beach wedding officiating for destination do-it-yourself brides looking for an evangelical vocational pastor to officiate here along the Gulf Coast beaches and at our West Mobile Wedding Chapel ceremonies.
If you live in the Gulf Coast area or will be in the area, I will be happy to sit down with you over a cup of coffee at a Starbucks or at our chapel to talk about pastoral care issues that you may want an ear and/or some insight on. Please contact me and I ‘ll be happy to arrange a meet-up.
